DollarThen shows what money from past years is worth today and how prices of everyday items have changed. Every number comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) and BLS average retail prices.

The site refreshes monthly after BLS publishes new CPI data. Calculations are automated. Annual figures are averages of monthly, not seasonally adjusted values. DollarThen is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by BLS.
